Psychedelics and Psychological Support
Interest in psychedelic-assisted treatments has expanded alongside research into their potential applications in mental health care. Substances such as psilocybin, MDMA and ketamine differ in their pharmacology, clinical applications and therapeutic experiences.
An important consideration is the psychological work that takes place before and after these experiences, whether as part of an authorised treatment program or through separate psychological support.
As a psychologist, I provide psychological preparation and integration support, informed by my experience working with people undergoing medically administered ketamine treatment and my background in psychological and creative therapeutic approaches.
I do not prescribe, administer or supply psychedelic substances. My work focuses on psychological support, reflection and integration within an appropriate clinical and legal framework.
Understanding the Different Approaches
Psychedelic-assisted therapy involves the administration of a substance within an authorised clinical treatment or research setting. Depending on the treatment, this may include psychological preparation, medically supervised administration and follow-up integration.
Psychological preparation and integration can also be provided independently of substance administration.
Preparation focuses on exploring expectations, emotional readiness, personal circumstances and available supports.
Integration involves processing experiences, considering their personal significance and identifying realistic ways to apply relevant insights in everyday life.

It can be used independently for personal reflection or alongside appropriate professional support.
