Walk and Make—therapy that moves through art.
Walk and Make is a new way to do counselling.
Sessions happen outdoors and include simple, hands-on art-making alongside conversation. It’s designed for people who feel more open when they’re moving, creating, or away from the usual therapy setting.
This approach draws on the benefits of nature, movement, and creative expression. You don’t need to be artistic as the focus isn’t on making something beautiful, it’s on using the process to explore what’s going on inside.
Sometimes the most effective shifts happen not when we try harder, but when we change how we approach the work.
What to Expect
Sessions last around 60-90 minutes and take place in a designated outdoor setting (TBD based on accessibility and weather). We’ll agree on a focus or intention beforehand. I’ll bring the materials and structure; you bring your presence and curiosity. Walk and Make is designed for those who feel more at ease in motion or in nature, and who find that expression can take more than just words.
Your first step is booking an initial appointment, conducted online or in the consulting room. This session allows you to meet your clinician, ask questions. Together we can decide if Walk and Make Therapy will be appropriate and prepare for your first outdoor session.
Walk and make therapy appointments are billed at $270.00 per session.
Sessions are billed privately and depending on your cover you may be able to claim through your health insurer.
What about the weather?
If the weather is inclement or generally not conducive to the process of the session we can conduct the session online or reschedule.
What It Is?
Walk and Make sessions take place outdoors, integrating basic art-making into a structured therapeutic experience. We’ll walk together at a comfortable pace and use natural surroundings as a springboard for reflection, insight, and creative exploration.
You don’t need to be an artist or have any experience with art materials. These sessions use materials and prompts that are simple and sensory, like working with found objects, mark-making, or journalling. The focus is on process, not product may include written word, poetry as well as visual art.
Why It Works
Movement helps reduce stress and opens up thinking.
Nature grounds and soothes the nervous system.
Creative action bypasses the inner critic and brings new perspectives forward.
Together, these elements can help shift stuck patterns and access deeper emotional clarity in a way that sitting still sometimes can’t.
Who It’s For
People who feel constrained by traditional therapy rooms
Those who process better while moving or making
Anyone curious about a more embodied, creative way to engage in therapy
